Part of the SHAPE Module is the discussion of the reproductive system of an adolescent.

To capacitate local health and population workers in conducting the Sexually Healthy and Personally Empowered (SHAPE) Module, the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM)-I conducted a regional training of trainers on October 1-4, 2019 at the North Stellar Hotel, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

Provincial, City, and Municipal Population Officers/Workers including partners from Civil Society Organizations, Department of Education, City Social Welfare and Development Office, and Local Youth Development Office in Region 1 were the participants in the 3-day activity. The training is a full course that addresses the three facets of change in adolescence — physical, psychological, and social changes. The module, which consists of five (5) interdependent modules — a preparatory and four core modules, were presented and discussed to the participants.

The new SHAPE Adolescents resource material is POPCOM’s latest addition to the Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health (ASRH) learning package. It makes use of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) both as a principle and as an approach.

During the opening program, POPCOM-I Regional Director Erma R. Yapit said “We have to converge with our partners para mas makacreate tayo ng significant impact sa ating programa and to make a difference in the lives of our adolescents. Para makamit natin ang sinasabi nating demographic dividend.”

Batac City Mayor Albert D. Chua also graced the said event and emphasized the need for more programs not only in the city, but also in the region which promotes the empowerment of the young Filipinos of today.
