The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) is set to celebrate its 53rd Anniversary on February 19, 2022 with the theme “Patuloy na Nagsusulong at Naglilingkod para sa Planado, Protektado at Progresibong Pamilyang Pilipino.”
Established in 1969 by virtue of Executive Order No. 171 signed by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, POPCOM has taken the lead in contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of all Filipino families by empowering them through the program components of the Philippine Population and Development Program (PPDP) namely, Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Health and Development (AHD), and Population and Development (POPDEV) Integration.
The celebration highlights the continuing challenges, opportunities and initiatives of the Commission in improving the quality of lives of the Filipino people. It also showcases the continued support from the local government units, partner agencies, and other stakeholders in promoting the population program in the grassroots level.
In line with the 53rd anniversary, POPCOM employees and all program stakeholders were enjoined to celebrate the event through various initiatives including social media campaign using the official hashtags #POPCOMat53 and #POPCOMatPamilyangPilipino, conduct of population-related activities in schools and communities, and sharing of significant information about POPCOM during radio and online guestings.
Other lined up activities for the regional celebration are the Beshytaktakan: Usap Tayo episode to be aired on February 28, 2022 on the official POPCOM I Facebook Page, Guesting of POPCOM I during the Kapihan sa DMMMSU, and the RPFP Orientation for our Special Population Group (SPG) on February 15, 2022.
POPCOM enjoins partner agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to support and celebrate this momentous event and partake in all of its programs, projects, and activities that aims in empowering Filipino families.
