The Commission on Population-I (POPCOM-I) conducted a 4-day training on Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health (ASRH) on September 24-27, 2018 at the La Jenns Hotel and Resto Grill, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

The training was intended to equip the peer facilitators, academe personnel, and other stakeholders from the local government units who are handling the Teen Centers/Information Service Delivery Networks (ISDN) in their respective schools and communities with the necessary information and skills geared towards ensuring adolescent health and development in Region 1.

Five schools (Dagupan City National High School, Castor Z. Concepcion Memorial National High School, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, La Union National High School, and Bacnotan National High School) and three local government units (Sto. Comm. Perci states that sexuality is not just about sex. “First, its about changing bodies, changing mindsets,” he emphasized.

“Sila ay mga kabataan na may kakayahang gumawa ng responsible decision  and responsible decision would require correct information and that is the job of the older generation,” he also added.

This endeavor is part of the Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) program of POPCOM which aims to provide adolescents and youth with appropriate information and life skills to enable them to cope with issues related to their sexual and full development into adulthood.
